Why are you having a photoshoot in the first place?

  • Do you need photos for your website?

  • To feed the social media monster?

  • Are you building a library of branded imagery?

What is your desired outcome by having these new photos and what will they do for your business?

Working out your shot list will have you revisiting your brand vision. Your photos should be aligned with your brand aesthetic and values.

Where will these photos be used?

Social media posts, your website, brochures, flyers, presentations, proposals, advertising, expo displays, banners, billboards or the back of a bus?

The where does matter. That way you know if your photos need to be vertical or horizontal, close up or wide. Just think, a long billboard or a tall skinny pull-up banner requires to different photos. Do your photos need plenty of negative space for marketing copy? Is there a particular story you’re wanting to convey?

  • How your clients resonate with you?

  • How do you work?

  • Do they know that you’re fun?

Think about all these questions, plan and make a shot list that really moves the needle.
